Capital One Cup first round

  • Venue: Adams Park
  • Date: Tuesday, 6 August

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

  • Wycombe beat then-Premier League Leicester 2-1 away in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup in March 2001. Roy Essandoh famously scored the winning goal in stoppage time and this was the catalyst for Peter Taylor almost destroying LCFC.

Leicester

  • The Foxes have won five and lost none of their last six away games in the League Cup (excluding penalties).
  • Jeffrey Schlupp has scored four goals in four career appearances in the Capital One Cup.

Wycombe

  • Wycombe are winless in their last 10 home games in the League Cup, drawing three and losing seven.
  • Since their club record run to the semi-finals in 2007, Wycombe have only once progressed past the first round, courtesy of a penalty shoot-out success against Colchester in 2011.

Pearson on LCFC.

‘I’ve not got a great intention of making wholescale changes. I’ll just see how the players are and make a call based on what I think is the right side, bearing in mind we’ve an extra day to recover before our next league fixture.’

One player definitely missing from the cup encounter will be Zak Whitbread, who has returned to non contact training, following his concussion, but not doing a full session Pearson will allow him further time to recover.
