As reported on 6th Jan 2014 Leicester City have agreed a 3.5 year deal with French outfit Le Havre for winger Riyad Mahrez.

There had been reported interest in the 22 year old,  it is now on the OS that ‘Leicester City’ have agreed a deal with Le Havre for the winger. Leicester City fended off interest from all around Europe to sign the right midfielder, including Serie A outfit Torino.

Despite being a relative unknown in England, the right winger is described as ‘extremely skillful’ and is set to offer competition for Lloyd Dyer and fellow Frenchman Anthony Knockaert on the flanks.

City manager Nigel Pearson told the OS site: “Riyad is a pleasing addition to a squad that already has a lot of quality and I’m delighted we’ve been able to secure his signature.

“Whenever we look to add to our squad, it has to be a player that will improve us while complementing what we already have and Riyad certainly fits that description.
“He is a talented player, technically very good, and he gives us another option in attacking positions.”
A French-Algerian, Mahrez joins City following an impressive spell with Le Havre, for whom he made 20 appearances during the opening half of the French season, scoring six goals and providing a further five assists.
