The Foxes came from a goal down to beat Blackpool 3-1 and stretch their unbeaten run to 16 games at the King Power Stadium. Although they dominated the first half, City fell behind in the 41st minute when they failed to clear a long throw-in and David Goodwillie scored from close range. But the Foxes stormed to their 25th win of the season with second-half goals from Riyad Mahrez, Wes Morgan and substitute Kevin Phillips to take another big step towards promotion. It was their fourth win in a row and took them 17 points clear of Derby in third place.

After their longest unbeaten run at this level for 43 years City are now on 80 points, seven ahead of Burnley in second and 17 points above third spot with 11 games to go.

Assuming, the unlikely event, that QPR, the best placed of the chasing pack, win every remaining game their maximum points total is 96. This would mean City need 17 more points to absolutely guarantee promotion. In all likelihood, City will probably not need anywhere near that total but reaching 97 points is certainly within their capabilities
